ART
Hello Readers!
What a joke it'd be if only I read my blogs XD.
Humor, the art of making & understanding jokes, make other people laugh.(Humor is such a funny word, sounds like tumor to me)
Grammar; the art of putting right words at right places. Today we are gonna talk about ART.
I believe art is about expression.
Space is filled with art, we are filled with art, in fact, everything is really made of art or nothing.
And my favourite line from one of my poetries is "Art is horcrux"
I hope y'll remember horcruxes from Harry Potter. Voldemort made seven horcruxes to lock a part of his soul for resurrection.
So, I think Art could be an horcux to artists.
Cause it let us breathe in it, it gives you liberty to completely loose yourself in it. And not to mention, every time you make an artwork, you put a part of yourself in it.
ART & SOUL -
Let's talk about Pablo Picasso.
He would paint for hours continuosly, standing in front of canvas, sometimes hours to days. In his documentary Surviving Picasso, he defined this act as-
"Like Muslims remove their shoes before entering the Mosque, I remove my body, I don't feel fatigue, it's my soul that paints."
One more example is from his childhood, because of his dyslexia & it's leading consequences, Picasso was considered a bad boy in school. And would often been sent to Calaboose (a bare cell with whitewashed walls & a bench to sit on)
He said - "I'd take a sketch pad & draw incessantly, I'd stay there forever, drawing without stopping."
Not to mention, it was such a relief for him to get away from false sanity of world & lost himself in his own world, where only sane thing was his art.
WHAT MAKES ART?
Art doesn't comes with quality colors nor on fancy canvas. Art really resides in you. What you choose to express, by any means, paint or mud, makes art.
And the greatest irony about skills is they're not slave of hierarchy, they bloom everywhere.
An heir to throne can make an art, so as the blacksmith or a poor beggar.
The desire to express something in you is often the inspiration to make art. But there are other reasons as well. Like when you're overwhelmed with some situation or emotion or by looking at somebody else's art.
But if you're recreating something from someone else, isn't that plagiarism?
So what, give credits, issue's solved (Not really.)
What is originality? undetected plagiarism
- William Ralph Inge
The idea of making perfect copies is wildly popular, perhaps some artist go for styles of other artist, they copy the style not the figure.
But in retrospective way, how can we make something new when our inspiration, our source is same. We paint what we see, what we percieve & how it can be different when all we have to look for, is in this very earth. We sure can percieve things in our unique way, paint them in our own way but the very element, the resource is one for all.
So now when we say plagiarism, it only refers to resource of our idea, not the quality or degree of our art.
Virchow's idea of formation of cell was - "Omnis cellula-e cellua" (all cell arise from pre-existing cells)
We are made of cells, cells that multiply continuously, making their copies & to multiply they need blueprint of genetic information existed in previous cell, so the cells copy their genetic information by biological methods and transfer it to other cell. But even such basic process of life isn't errorless. In fact, no biological process is errorless. And these little errors leads to variation. Variation that makes us compatible with changing environment around us, these errors give us more life.
Now look here, basic form of life-cells-can't make perfect copies, like cells have other cells as source of their life, our art has other art forms, everyday life, everyday experience as their source of inspiration. Still every cell is distinct & unique in it's own way except it all came from one cell, likewise art is different from other resembling arts beside the fact that inspiration for them could be same.
Artists know how to progress the mere inspiration into gigantic artform.
WHY WE NEED CREDITS?
All the famous artist didn't made their art to get famous or to achieve unbound social acceptance. They paint for themselves, made art for themselves. All their work is valued & their craft is cherished cause it had something that was powerful enough to be expressed by
mere lines, curves or paint, it wasn't the slave of words or any kind of physical communication.
Picasso didn't paint for the world, he made paintings that first didn't make sense to anybody. While painting he didn't knew they're going to be appreciated for centuries. He was just copying down something in his head.
It'd have not mattered to him if he gets the credits for inventing Cubism. He had one tough life & he made out something good of it.
To quote Picasso;
"The meaning of life is to find your gift,
The purpose of life is to give it away."
